Serious Stuff -  Pay attention to your instincts

A MUST READ....

Today has been a odd kind of day with our main site going down for awhile. It took several hours for a couple of us to figure it out but we did, thankfully. I decided to take my little guy Barney for a ride to McDonald's drive up to get myself a diet soda and give him some attention.  Poor little guy was being ignored during the website crisis and I figured a drive (his second favorite thing to do) would calm him down a bit.

Before I left I had a very odd thought (VERY odd for me)  what if something terrible happened just going out to get a diet coke like an bad accident or something worse - would it be worth going?  Now trust me I don't have these kind of thoughts - it's just not my style to think like that. I decided to just let it go and be on my way. Barney was so excited by this time and i didn't want to let him down.

Less than 2 minutes later I was traveling on a busy main street and had the right of way, of course. I was coming up to a steep hilly street that cars are supposed to stop at the stop sign. In a flash I saw a white beamer coming down the hill really fast and I didn't think she was going to stop.  I slammed on the brakes fast. She flew out into the road and missed me by a few inches or so. I simply backed up a bit and drove around her as did the cars behind me. I was a bit shaken up but thankful that I had been paying  extra attention. I went on my way and low and behold the same car comes buzzing by me again a few minutes later - speeding.  Seriously?  I couldn't believe it.

Barney, thankfully was in the back seat and landed up on the floor and was just fine.  But he usually likes to be in the front seat. Had he been in front he would have slammed into the dash.  For some reason when I let him in the car it was in back seat today....

Folks there are angels (or whatever you want to call them) and they are guiding us if we  listen. Next time you get an odd, uneasy feeling or a strange thought like I did.... PAY ATTENTION! I am very thankful that I did today.

Anna Banana Kruchten - It was an odd day from the beginning. I do believe all the warning bells were going off and I'm glad you paid attention. Once was bad enough but for that white beamer to do it twice was no coincidence. Perhaps you were there with Barney for a very good reason - could it be that it's because of your instincts, love for all creatures here on earth, and your devotion to your family and job that actually saved another life who may not have been alert and would have gotten into a terrible accident?

I hope it never happens to you again. And I'm Barney was with you. You managed to not get into an accident and you kept Barney safe and he comforted you because he knew you're a protector.

Anna, when I first got Willie, someone read me the riot act about letting him ride in the front seat with me - normally my preference.  If an air bag deploys, a dog, especially a smallish one, can be killed or seriously injured.  Glad you and Barney are both alright!

Good morning, Anna... chills ran down my back when I read this... and I'm so happy you and Barney are ok. Yours is not the first story I've heard of someone having instincts/premonitions... one friends skipped a flight overseas last minute and that plane crashed; another who is never late dawdled one day to go to work at the WTCenter on 9/11 and escaped certain death. We need to listent to our inner voices more, I've always believed.

Your sharing is not limited to women's intuition which is a powerful dynamic in itself. There are no accidents in life. Believing that, one should observe what is going on, why and how it it impacts them in a casual, aware way... case in point

Posted by Richie Alan Naggar, agent & author (people first...then business Ran Right Realty ) over 2 years ago

Dang, Anna.... I believe that we all have the undeveloped abilities to foresee and 'feel' events even before they occur. It's some form of energy that none of us can really control yet - like a early-warning control system, like a built-in radar.

We often have hear people talk about their 'gut-feeling' - similar or same ability.

I see Barney is at the keyboard reporting the story, he's a pretty good typist... even did a selfie.

With the storm I find some do not have the common sense to refrain from doing something not proper.  A SUV tried to run over a flooded stream with warning signs. Teens put on wet suits trying to scuba diving in a storm discharge.

Trust the conventional wisdom and listen what your parents and granny taught you.

Anna Banana,

What a well written experience which you have shared. Some years ago, I was fortunate to come upon these words of wisdom shared by none other than the late Coach Paul W. "Bear" Bryant. "Have a plan, work the plan and have a plan for the unexpected." These words continue to remain with me as I traverse my daily "landscape" of responsibilities and objectives.

Anna:

So glad that you and Barney are OK.  Instincs should always be considered.  They are our sixth sense that we need to be extra viligant, especially on the road.  It seems that people are texting, talking on their cells or doing other things that distract them from being safe on the road.  We have to watch out for those who have more important things to do than pay attention while driving.

I am 100% certain that my baby and I had guardian angels watching over us.. I went into early labor but they were able to stop it. What followed was 15 weeks of modified bed rest and no sneezing or laughing because I had a cracked rib. Needless to say that I've been hypervigilant ever since and when my gut tells me to watch out, I watch out.
