Let's Get Personal...

You've come a long way baby!

Brian England has come up with a very cool idea for an October contest! Let's Get Personal! You've got until the end of October to enter - so it's time to get cracking!

I wasn't sure where to start and fit it all in to a 300 word post - yikes! I grew up in Duluth MN with a pack of siblings (7 total). Hint! Hint! That was the start of  my learning how to become a good negotiator and moderator.  Being a middle child gave me a lot of space to do whatever I wanted - which was often reading and then more reading. I was one of those kids that read 5 or so books a week. I loved learning and exploring and still do to this day. I also loved playing outdoors. My Mom used to tell me that when I was a baby she'd put my snowsuit on and place me on the back porch. I'd cry when she brought me in. So I've got her to thank for loving the outdoors and hiking, skiing, golfing or anything outside.

In High School I went to a girls boarding school so that gave me another opportunity to learn how to get along well with 8 roommates and all the other classmates too. We were all expected to excel in academics and sports which I was perfectly good with. I was on all the sports teams and captain of volleyball, tennis and basketball team. Man that seems like another life time ago! 2 of my best friends at the boarding school were from Mexico. They spent a lot of time with my family over the breaks, holidays and traveling around the country with us. I also lived in Mexico with their family, learned Spanish and a totally different way of life!. The stories I could tell......very fun!

Oh no I'm already at 310 words and I'm not even in college yet. Yikes! I'll speed this up so I don't bore you to death.  College was great! I ended up with 2 majors and 1 minor and went on to grad school. But - while backpacking out West during a summer break I got offered a really cool job in Vail - and I jumped at the chance! Adventure!!! Of course my folks thought I had lost it - but actually it was the perfect thing for me to do at the time. Holy smokes it was an entirely different world working with Vail folks, ranchers, cowboys, kids, teaching, managing huge events,  you name it - I did it out west. I even managed to teach tennis, racquetball and skiing in my spare time. It truly was a fantastic opportunity for me!

But .....even at that time and space I had been dreaming of being in real estate!

Fast forward to 1987 and I got my license and began my career helping folks buy and sell properties.  I love what I do to this day! Pretty simple really - if you love what you do it makes life an adventure!

The End!  Well not really the end but like I said I don't want to bore you!!

Loved this post, Anna, and loved your pictures even more. I can relate to what you said about living in boarding school from my experience in a college sorority...which set me up for life when I went into the corporate world. The sorority was where I learned how to negotiate and navigate all sorts of personalities and go along and get along.

Those are great pictures from your past, Anna.  And, it's quite the tale you've told.  I can remember when more kids went to bording school.  I had a friend, who went starting in elementary school.

Hi Anna- I love reading about how you grew up to be THE BANANA with 'TUDE!!!  I knew you loved hiking but had no idea how athletic you were!!  That little girl  in the photo is still in the daily photo that we see!!!

Great story Anna! I enjoyed reading about your childhood, boarding school and going out west to explore and find your way in the world. You left out the part about meeting Mr. Banana! Oh, well, another time perhaps.

I doubt that anyone would be bored reading about your life, quite an exciting life you live!  Do you still play tennis?  If not, when did you give it up?

Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886 - What a fascinating life! It would be fun to sit down with you and learn more. I have a feeling we would laugh until we cried. Your photos are terrific! And how you learned to be a strong negotiator really makes sense - something I never thought about before! I have 4 sisters and I'm right smack in the middle #3. Although I never went to Boarding School, my father always threatened us girls if we didn't know how to behave, he was going to send us to Boarding School. Since I was so young, I didn't know what he meant and thought it was a school of boards and nails and no toys, books or teachers. Subsequently, I was a very obedient child who loved to read too! But then I went to an all girl high school and all my teachers were females. In other words, I went to the school of hard knocks. But you sure turned out okay. You're lucky you had sports as an outlet and you have done great things as a result of your background. What a great story! Leave it to Brian England to bring out the skeletons!

Lisa Von Domek hey any longer than usual post does get boring - I know that and I bet you do too!   People want short and sweet these days! As for CPS and my Mom - that's not even a possiblity. She was an amazing Mom for us kids and many, many others. One of those very special ladies that I was blessed to have as my role model.  Oh wait - I know my folks called a detective friend of my Dad's to have a 'talking to' a few times for couple  of my brothers for the stupid boy stuff they got themselves into!  Just stupid!!

What an adorable photo of you as a child, Anna! I, too, grew up in Minnesota and moved to Colorado for a while. I lived in Nederland, about 30 minutes up the hill from Boulder. But I also lived in Dillon and was married at one time in Breckenridge. We have some similarities.

Hi Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents  I think the photo was my kindergarten shot. I knew you had grown up in MM but don't remember where?  I too lived in Vail (Eagle County) after college for about 5 years. Still love Colorado!

Anna, what a great short background of MS Banana's  past that most of us had no idea of. I used to read a lot since I was able to read...sadly  the Internet has cut into my reading time. I pat myself on the back when I get to read eight to ten books a year. What type of books do you read? Endre

Oh, I want more, Anna Banana!! You could NEVER bore!

Isn't it funny how jobs and life's experiences that are totally unrelated, lead us on the wildest adventures and ultimately something we love! I totally agree, if you love what you do, life IS an adventure.

Happy Monday, Anna!

Hi Endre Barath, Jr. agreed now I read on the internet and it seems I rarely read books anymore.  But...that is the plan. As a kid I loved adventure, mysteries, typically kid books!

Hi Debe Maxwell, CRS life is an adventure - even the small things are amazing to me. Like today, while out hiking I so enjoyed watching a father and his young son pick up every rock and imagining.....who knows what! It was so sweet!  I clued the Dad as to where they could go 'alligator hunting'!!  That lite up the little boys eyes!  Next it will be the baby dinosaurs caves!!
