Wordless Wednesday ... Buy Bitcoin At This Kiosk

While making a quick stop at our local grocery store I just happened to notice a new kiosk on my way out of the store. What??? Were my eyes fooling me??? I turned back into the store to check it out further and investigate how it works.  Sure enough, anyone can now buy bitcoin while shopping for groceries. Who knew!  What do you think I did? Buy some Bitcoin? Or not?

Hello Anna - Uh-Oh! Another quick glance gone wrong.  I first read the provider as Con-Me.  Oops!  My mistake.  Or maybe not.

Hahahaha Michael Jacobs that's a good catch, I didn't catch that one. I couldn't believe I had just seen what I thought I saw. When did buying bitcoin at a grocery store become a 'thing.??  Kind of nuts. Maybe they'll be selling stocks next.....

I'm not so quick to jump on the BitCoin train.  I think it will be interesting to follow where this "trend" ends up.

I still don't get the benefit of cryptocurrency-except to be invisible for tax purposes.

Hi Anna,
The only thing I know about Bitcoin is that it's supposed to be a more secure way of doing transactions.  How that works, I have no clue.   I'd say "No" to your question.

Hi Kathy Streib it is constantly changing - and fast.  I just never expected a Bitcoin machines at the groceery store.  Kind of funny to me!

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat bitcoin has had it's ups and downs for sure. Today it's down 200, under 10K. A saw a guy on a biz channel early this am and he's into bitcoin and expects it to go over 20K. I don't buy into it....just not my thing. I'd rather buy gold than bitcoin.

Hi Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS that's what I was thinking too! We'll see how long it lasts. My guess is not long.  Not sure grocery shoppers have buying bitcoin on their minds.

Hi Michelle Carr Crowe,Altas Just Call...408-252-8900! well it's complicated and most aren't into investing in bitcoin. Some are but that's not me.

Hi Carol Williams well bitcoin is trading at under 10K (at the moment) which is down a couple hundred.  Seems pretty volatile and not widely accepted as a secure investment strategy. But I know just enough to know nothing significant as to how bitcoin applies to our real life. Blockchain is understandable and in fact I can see how valuable it could be to title companies etc in keeping documents secure - secure as possible in today's world that is...

Anna well at the cost of what one bitcoin is going for, I am thinking you past up on the kiosk

Oddly enough, I just stopped by a Coinstar machine today and saw the same thing.  I wouldn't do it.

I'm with Myrl on this.

Even attorneys have difficulty explaining how bitcoin works, who owns it, etc.  Will bitcoin go the way of subprime mortgages?

I doubt you invested in bitcoin on your shopping trip. I wouldn't have either.  The concept of bitcoin is too complicated to easily grasp, wonder why? I know, generally speaking, that it's a web-based bank account ...still...with the volatility, it is too risky.

I have no clue at all what it is or how it works. I will just keep on shopping the old fashioned way. LOL

How ironic you posted this Anna. I was in Vons Grocery Store to use their coin counting machine, which turned out to be the machine in your photo. I have even seen some MLS listings stating that bitcoin is accepted!!

Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886 - "Con Me." That was a good catch by Michael Jacobs! Out of all the different fonts, this one was an interesting (or shall I say, deliberate) choice.

Recently, I was in a hurry and glanced at a sign that was advertising Bitcoin but I didn't stop to investigate or read what it said. I'm pretty sure it was advertising for a lender. I hope I find it again. With the holidays coming up, I think we all need to keep our eyes and ears open for scammers. Although, I don't think the sign you shared is a scam. But you never know! I hope more people reply to your post and we could learn more.
